Konami pulls no punches with this game
Silent Hill 2 Director’s Cut PC Game (djDEVASTATE™) The first Silent Hill for the PC, Konami’s Director’s Cut takes the winning formula from Silent Hill 2 on the PlayStation 2 and combines it with the highly acclaimed extras seen in the Xbox version, Inner Fears. Silent Hill 2 was once a sacred place for the main character, James, but it’s not what it used to be, as players of the original will attest. There are a lot of stained mattresses, dirty piles of medical supplies, and general disarray. Doors are almost all locked and the windows in the various rooms offer nothing but reflections.
New to the Director’s Cut are a number of new graphical features
Comedy is strictly forbidden and everything included in the game is disturbing in one way or another. There’s a genuine sense of claustrophobia throughout the game that’s exacerbated by darkness and very thick fog. Taking advantage of the graphics cards and processing power of the PC, Silent Hill 2: Director’s Cut comes with improved graphics and gorgeous light sources, which further accentuate the menacing atmosphere of the game. But most importantly, there’s a whole new chapter to the experience that can be played with a new female character.
and not in a good way
There’s certainly plenty of additional things to do, and it’s worth a try even if you already own the PS2 version. Starting a new game from scratch, the initial encounters with members of the twisted dimension aren’t too scary, and are generally easy to dispatch, using just a nail bat or a small pistol. These twisted folk include headless nurses and dismembered torsos crawling through the dense fog. The meat of the game involves the player solving puzzles, walking back and forth through hallways, collecting and combining items, and generally feeling unsettled…
DO NOT INSTALL, JUST EXTRACT AND PLAY
Much like its predecessor, the Director’s Cut is a superbly crafted game. As long as you can handle the gruesome and violent subject matter and don’t mind having your sleep interrupted, it’s definitely worth putting in a few hours. Extract the file to any directory you like with Winrar or 7zip etc. Launch the game with “sh2pc.exe”.
